Walter Tull 1888 to 1918: Footballer and Officer

Second edition (revised and updated with new material) of biogaphy of Walter Tull. One of the first black professional footballers, he played before World War One as an amateur for Clapton before joining Tottenham Hotspur and then Northampton Town. He joined the Army as a volunteer in 1914, and became the first black officer to lead white troops in 1917. He was killed in action on 25 March 1918.
